A very well done to all those who took part. Here’s the Chronicles Report:
Eighteen young fighters from the Bath Judo Club Squad attended the Bushido national championships held at the High Wycombe Judo Centre and returned with four gold medals, two silver medals and three bronze.
The first competitor to fight was Wilbur Riddoch who won all his fights except the final with the maximum point scores to take the silver medal in the under 35kg class. His club mate William Shardlow also did well to take the bronze medal in the same group.
In the next group the under 40kg class Markos Constantinides only lost one contest by the smallest of margins but this put him in the bronze position. Lauri Mills in the under 45kg group won every fight with the maximum score to take the gold medal.
Ben Shardlow who trains with Lauri put on a marvellous display of competitive judo to take the gold medal in his class the under 50kg class. Lauri’s brother Remy Mills was the outstanding player of the day producing wins in every contest to win the gold medal as his brother had done earlier, this group was the over 55kg group which was the highest group of the day. Ruben Zukas won the bronze medal in this group so the Bath club took the gold and bronze medals.
The girls section also produced very good results for the Bath club and in the under 44kg kg section Olivia Hudson on her first outing for the club won a silver medal only losing one contest and winning all her other contests with style.
The female fighter of the day was Lucy Mallon who defeated all her opponents with excellent judo skills to take the gold medal in the under 55kg group.
