Ethan was no stranger to competition as a junior — pictured here competing at High Wycombe at the age of just 7. He often found himself facing opponents much larger than himself, but never backed down from a challenge.

After taking a break from Judo for a few years to focus on rugby with Bath RFC, it’s been fantastic to have Ethan back at the club. His focus and determination have paid off quickly — winning the majority of his contests with emphatic Ippon throws, often within seconds. Here’s the Tai Otoshi that sealed the deal!

Ethan is now the third Hawtin to earn a Black Belt with the club. His dad, Ivor, started Judo in his forties and earned his Dan grade in under two years — a true inspiration for both his sons and the rest of the club. His brother Elliott also earned his Black Belt at the age of 17, also on his first attempt.

Well done Ethan — a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for the whole club!
